Review
Review Gadget is a eBay application that is designed to drive sales and instill buyer confidence. This is all made possible through an automated system that automatically asks buyers to review your products and then displays those reviews on your auctions. This is a great compliment to eBays feedback system because now buyers can view both your performance as a seller and what others think about your products. A combination of a good DSR rating and product reviews in your auction has been proven to increase sales.
Review Gadget allows you to insert reviews at the bottom or top of every auction or you can optionally insert a code snippet where you prefer into your auctions. You will also be able to specify how many days after the auction ends to send out both a request for a review and a reminder to submit a review. Currently you are not able to edit these email messages but plans are in the works for this feature.
Review Gadget is currently being offered for a flat rate of $4.95/ month with a 30 day free trial. This should be plenty of time to see if you are getting reviews and to see how you like the system before you purchase.
Editor Review
Well, if you are on this site you are like me and many others who enjoy reading reviews. Reviews are a great way to see what others think about a product which is some of the best research you can do before making a purchase. I think it is great that Review Gadget has incorporated reviews into eBay auctions. An advantage that Amazon has over eBay is the extensive buyer reviews that you can read for just about every product. Currently eBay offers reviews for certain products and I think that Review Gadget could be a great addition to this by allowing reviews on a seller by seller basis.
I signed up for Review Gadget just 2 weeks ago and currently have about 15 reviews. This is not a very good ratio considering the amount of auctions that I have had end however overtime my review count should climb steadily. The only thing that worries me is that once I get a substantial amount of reviews for a product I might not be selling that product any longer.
Another feature that would be great would be the ability to setup some sort of inventory system so that reviews can be broken down by product. This way when a buyer is viewing an auction they are shown only reviews for that product. Currently reviews are shown for all items and in some ways this defeats the purpose of a review because buyers are reading a review for an irrelevant product.
Aside from those few things the Review Gadget application is a great one. I see some really good potential in the system, and as it gains more popularity it will become second nature for more buyers to submit a product review. Currently Review Gadgets strength lies in how user friendly it is. The system is completely automated and makes inserting reviews into your auctions very easy, and that is always a good thing. We all know how much a review can help.
