Froo Template Themes

Froo is a new eBay Selling Manager application that will allow you to add a template to your currently live and scheduled auctions. Froo makes this possible with a 5 step process that walks you through choosing a template design, adding your logo, choosing whether your other auctions will be cross promoted in the auction, filling out seller details such as shipping, payment and return policies and finally assigning this new design to your current or scheduled auctions.

Beyond a fresh new auction template Froo also delivers a cross promotion feature that will elegantly show a scrolling gallery of your other auctions. You will also get an image gallery that will feature your eBay hosted images in a click to enlarge gallery that also incorporates a nifty magnifying glass.

If you keep your auctions simple, and are looking for a bit of extra flare, Froo is a good choice for you. Currently all templates are free, but a premium service is in the works for the future will require a payed membership.

Editor Review

We all know that a professional eBay template and auction design is a sure fire way to increase sales. This is the reason why I was interested in the Froo eBay application when I first learned about it. I am an eBay auction design connoisseur so these things really interest me.

After looking into Froo it become clear that this is a system meant for smaller sellers that mainly use the “Sell Your Item” form to list items. I am the exact opposite, I use auction management tools to handle my listing and it is safe to say I am a high volume seller. So does that make Froo a bad system? No, not at all. All sellers need software applications and this is one that is meant for the little guy. Why is Froo meant for the little guy? One reason is because it recommends that you host your images with eBay in order to take advantage of their image gallery feature. The .15 cents to host an image with eBay really adds up and would not be a good business decision for mid to high volume sellers.

The other and possibly more damaging blow to a big seller using Froo is the time it would take to use. This is because Froo templates can only be added to existing or scheduled auctions. This means if you list 30 auctions each day you would have to click 30 times just to get your template to your listing. What could be more frustrating would be the hassle it would be to get your design to look right while using a Froo template.

As with all the apps I review I have to point out a few things I would change. In my opinion I think Froo needs a way to upload your images to a Froo server and then insert them into the auction. This would save sellers a bunch of money on the .15 cent additional image fee. Another improvement would be the ability to create the auction from within Froo, this would save the hassle of having to add your template to already started or scheduled auctions.

As you can see Froo is not for me, but that doesn’t mean its not for you. Be sure to try this app out for yourself and decide on your own if this is something that will help you sell on eBay. Froo will always be free, and will only be charging for premium templates down the road.
