EZ Support for eBay

EZ Support for eBay is a seller application that makes handling customer support tasks more efficient. In fact Hosted Support, the creators of EZ Support for eBay claim it will cut the amount of emails you have to answer by 80%. This can be a huge time saver that will free up valuable time to create new auctions and source new products.

The heart of the EZ Support system lies in the knowledge base that you create. When a buyer clicks on the “ask seller a question” link they will be taken to your FAQ section where they can conveniently search for an answer. This is proven to increase sales because your buyer will get the answer they are looking for right away.

If a buyer decides to ask a question anyway, the EZ Support system will make sure that it can’t answer the question automatically before forcing you to answer the question. It does this with an intelligent system that uses keywords in the buyers question to find an answer within your FAQ database. When eBay first announced their new selling manager applications API I went ahead to see what was going to be offered. One app that stuck out to me was EZ Support for eBay, and I waited eagerly for the new selling manager system to be finished. While I waited I had many dreams of days ahead with 80% less emails to answer, and thus more time to sip Martinas on the beach (joking).

After using the application for a month or so I have to say it is a keeper. I was getting around 40 emails everyday and since using the system that has been cut just about in half. It is definitely a noticeable difference, and a difference that really makes a difference. The best part about the system is that it can constantly evolve. Whenever I get a question that I think will arise again I simply add that too my FAQ and let the EZ Support for eBay handle it the next time.

I have not seen an increase in sales with the application, but then again sales haven’t decreased either. So I will take that. Even though sales have not increased, I really like the piece of mind of knowing that potential buyers have the opportunity to get an answer on the spot.

Of course there are always a few things that I want to see improved with every application. First I think it would be great if you could place a searchable FAQ directly into your auction. This might violate eBay terms, but why make the buyer click “ask seller a question” and then be redirected to the FAQ? Many buyers move onto the next listing before asking their question, a FAQ directly on the auction page could prevent this. Another improvement could be in the user interface, the system is a bit clunky and confusing to work with and a better UI would improve this.

All in all EZ Support for eBay is a fantastic tool for sellers who dread their email load. I am not sure how valuable it would be to a smaller seller but I would be interested to hear how it works for everyone in the reviews below.
